I would get a Trainer with the 24.8" barrel and tangent sight for shooting irons. That will save you about $80.00. vs the 455 Lux. Put that money toward an American stock to use when you want to use a scope. I don't have a 457, but do have an American (.22 mag) and a Varmint (.17 HMR) in the 452 series and a 455 American in .22LR. In my experience, there isn't much difference in accuracy between a Varmint and an American. Due to the stock design and heavier weight, the Varmint style is better suited for I secured a sample of the CZ 457 Lux in .22 WMR for testing. While the .22 Long Rifle is still by far America’s most popular rimfire cartridge, I thought the Lux was actually better suited to the harder-hitting .22 WMR, referred to by everyone in America as .22 Mag. Convert the 457 CZ dovetail to a standard scope rail. Great for Weaver or Picatinny style rings so you can easily get the right height ring for your scope. Easily attaches with the 4 supplied steel set screws(see photo) to hold the mount firmly to the receivers dovetail. The CZ 457 varmint barrel will do what you want. My son's 457 will do that all day long with standard velocity ammo. I had a Tikka T1x and it would shoot about the same with the same SV ammo. Overall, the CZ was just a bit nicer. I liked the heavy barrel and feel of working the bolt. I sold the T1x - since it was for me and I shoot long guns lefty. We have a 455 Trainer, which came with the hooded front sight. That's attached via a single set screw and some glue. I presume all the hooded front sight models are the same way, like the new 457 models, but I don't really know. Call CZ to ask. The longer barrel might make them slightly quieter but not exactly what you would call hearing safe quiet. According the CZ, this new 455 will eventually replace the 452 series, and the 455 features interchangeable barrels that are easy to switch out by simply installing a new barrel and magazine, plus adding a mag-well spacer for the .22.
